The Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme conducted a two week writing workshop was for cohort 12 (2018) residents under WAHO support from 1st – 6th and 16th – 20th November 2020 at the Tulip by Ave Maria Hotel, Accra, Ghana. As part of the Regional Disease Surveillance Systems Enhancement (REDDISSE) project, graduates of the programme are required to submit bound volume of outputs including manuscripts before being are awarded a competency certificate. To help residents achieve this objective, the GFELTP carried out a manuscript writing workshop to assist residents in developing manuscripts out of their field work done throughout their two year training.
The aim of the activity was to assist WAHO sponsored residents of Cohort XII (2018 class) to complete their field reports, develop manuscripts out of them, submit manuscripts to peer reviewed journals. The workshop was in three phases; a didactic session where lessons on manuscript writing were held, a remote session where participants worked with mentors to respond to comments and improve their drafts and a boot camp where all manuscripts were polished, and finalized for submission.
